Hi, I’m Sera. I’m your quintessential Blockbuster girl. I worked there on and off for around 7 years and it was the best job I’ve ever had. I also have a film degree. One of my favorite things about working at Blockbuster was connecting with my customers so I could make recommendations of what to watch. Even though I haven’t worked there in a long time, many people still come to me for recommendations, so I decided to put it online.

Site Origin Story

One day my cousin asked me to give him a list of movie and show recommendations because of my background so I was like “Sure! No prob!” Then I made some quick Google Notes to share with him. I wasn’t sure if he was using it or not, so I decided to keep updating it, just in case.

Then as co-workers or friends asked for recommendations I was like “Oooh! I’ve got something to share with you!” I no longer had to think off the top of my head, which is very difficult, because I have ADHD and am getting older–both work against my memory abilities. Yay! So easy! So I kept maintaining it.

Then one day I thought, hmmm, maybe I should put this on the web. It would make sharing easier and maybe some other people will find it and appreciate it too. I can’t give people recommendations at Blockbuster anymore, but maybe I can do it virtually.

Even if no one uses this site, I don’t care, because it’s fun for me, and is easier than copying and pasting from a Google Note when people ask for a recommendation. 😉
